It’s often common that people from all different walks of life always want to find simple and easy ways to stay healthy – particularly when snacking on the go and having food readily available. A food dehydrator is an amazing way to do so!
Food dehydrators. What are they? They are kitchen appliances that use hot air to draw out moisture from different foods such as fruit and veggies and intensifies their flavours – fruit tastes sweeter!! They’re incredibly useful when snacking on the go and inevitably reduces food waste within your household. They also encourage you to make healthier lifestyle decisions both environmentally and physically for your wellbeing! Food dehydrators allow many foods to retain its nutrients in ways that other cooking methods might not be able to.
The presence of water allows bacteria and mold to grow on food, causing them to go off or bad. Therefore by drawing out this water, the longevity and shelf life of different foods increases exponentially – reducing the overall food waste you produce as well as the plastic waste you would produce when buying more snacks, fruits, veggies and meat to make up for what was spoiled.

Does a dehydrator use a lot of electricity?
Food dehydrators tend to be much more energy efficient than ovens. When you consider the difference between running a 1000W dehydrator for 12 hours versus a 5000W to 38,000W convection oven for the same time period, the dehydrator wins out on energy use alone.
Does a food dehydrator make food crispy?
Food dehydrators, which extract the water from fruits, vegetables and even meat, are the new must-have kitchen gadget of 2021. By removing the moisture from food you can create a crispy texture without copious amounts of oil.
What are the best foods to dehydrate?
1) Fruits (apples, bananas, apricots, peaches, pears, cherries, blueberries) for eating as snacks or chopped in granola and trail mixes, or dried as purees for fruit leather. 2) Vegetables (carrots, mushrooms, onions, peas, beans, tomatoes) for adding to soups, stews, and backpacking meals.
