sustainable and organic hair products

It’s safe to say that everyone needs to take care of their hair for it to stay healthy and look the best. Hair care should be more of a necessity than a luxury. However, particular concerns arise as we endeavour to live sustainably by implementing new procedures and adopting substitute products and processes.

How do we stay mindful of the environment while maintaining personal hygiene? Are there eco-friendly hair care products that keep our hair looking and feeling great? Do we need to compromise sustainability in order to have healthy and beautiful hair?

These are some of the questions and concerns we have asked ourselves, which this article will address.

What is Sustainable Hair Care?

The key concerns of the eco-friendly community as regards sustainable hair care include the use of natural ingredients, absence of animal cruelty, and minimal packaging that’s either recycled, recyclable, or better still, both.

Sustainable Hair Care, therefore must, include tools and products that can meet these standards. We know how easy it is to be Greenwashed these days as several companies are becoming more aware of the needs of an ever-increasing eco-friendly community and they try to falsely sell themselves as sustainable brands.

This is why we have done careful research and we will be putting the spotlight on V&M SPA in this article.

The V&M Spa was founded by Victoria, a traditional hairstylist who discovered that she had a passion to do much more than conventional hair styling. She wanted to go deeper— to address the issues her clients faced with their hair by formulating products that could help them grow long healthy hair and be easy on the planet at the same time

Victoria’s Story

Victoria started hairdressing very early in life, intrigued by the idea of hair.. And it was in this process that she discovered that people had more needs than just getting their hair styled. Some of her clients battled with damaged hair, loss of hair, and the struggle to grow healthy hair. Gradually, as she sought to find a way to help them, she made a transition from traditional hairdressing to private sessions with her clients.

She quickly discovered that people were doing a lot of things incorrectly when it came to hair care— washing their hair too often, using harsh products, applying too much product, and not even washing it out properly. This explained why several of them had dry, damaged hair. Victoria was determined to solve these problems.

She believed that hair should be washed less and with the right blend of natural ingredients. So, this brand was born from a desire to help people cultivate healthy hair using natural ingredients. Over the last fifteen years, she has worked with biochemists to create outstanding hair formulas. As a matter of fact, she has won the Organic Beauty Awards for hair in the last two years.

With ethically sourced ingredients from local communities and farms in Australia, V&M Spa is staying true to the sustainability movement.

Now let’s explore three of their products.
